THE AMESBURY ROTARY CLUB IS PROUD TO PRESENT THE 1st ANNUAL FLAGS FOR HEROES FUNDRAISER

Is there a hero in your life, past or present? Why not honor them by sponsoring a flag in their name at this wonderful community event?  The honoree could be a veteran, an active-duty service member, a first responder, police, firefighter, EMT, teacher, coach, an essential worker, a family member, humanitarian, or best friend. Your hero's name will be personalized on a medallion, which will be attached to a full-size American flag and will be given to you as a remembrance when the display is taken down.  

Flags will be proudly displayed at the Amesbury Servicemen's Memorial Honor Roll on Main Street (across the street from Amesbury Middle School).  Flags will be on display starting Memorial Day, May 27th through Flag Day, June 14th.  You can recognize your hero by sponsoring a flag for $75.

Sponsorships are available for business and community groups.  Each sponsor will receive the number of flags list below, in addition to special recognition on Amesbury Rotary's website and all publications.  Sponsorships rates and benefits are as follows:

$1,000.          Medal of Honor Sponsor (includes 10 flags / medallions)

$   500.          Stars & Stripes Sponsor (includes 5 flags / medallions)

$   250.          Betsy Ross Sponsor (include 2 flags / medallions).

When placing your order be prepared to provide the following formation:

  1. Name of person ordering Flag

  2. Contact Email

  3. Contact Phone Number

  4. Mailing address (for medallion)

  5. Name of Hero for medallion 

  6. Hero information: Branch of Service, rank (if appropriate), a first responder, police, firefighter, EMT, teacher, coach, an essential worker, a family member, humanitarian, or best friend.

Flags must be purchased by Wednesday, May 15, 2024.   Make checks out to Amesbury Rotary and mailed to Amesbury Rotary, PO Box 554, Amesbury, MA 01913.

Proceeds from this fund raising efforts will continue to support and expand Amesbury Rotary's projects and programs, including but not limited to:

    • Readers are Leaders -- reading to an elementary student who needs a little but of TLC (22 years)
    • Interest Free Student Loans (forever -- as long as I've been a member)
    • Student Scholarships -- 5 -- I believe
    • Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) -- leadership weekend for sophomores & juniors (since the beginning in 1997)
    • Interact Club -- AHS club created in 2001 -- high school students committed to service
    • Senior Citizen Holiday Luncheon -- we serve the lunches
    • Bike Safety Day (*) for elementary age students
    • Dictionary Project -- we hand out dictionaries to all 3rd graders in Amesbury & Rowley
    • Educator of the Year (42 years strong)
    • Pettengill House (*) (Backpacks for start of the year; PJs and Books during the holidays; emergency food bags)
    • Link House (*) (provided furniture for women moving to transitional housing & Valentine socks & candy)
    • Painted rain barrels for distribution in the community (*)
    • Polio Eradication (*) This is a 30+ year commitment by RI to eradicate Polio from the Earth. 
    • Water project in Africa (*) -- inspired the creation of Amesbury for Africa
    • A Dialysis Center was created in India and we helped fund it (*)
    • Initial funding for the Great Himalayan Trail Project 
    • Erected the fountain at Amesbury Library as our gift to the community on our 75th anniversary; planning a project for our 100th anniversary in 2025
